Blood, Spit & Logic (Part 2)

Finding The Kronrots: Surely you, Abq Jew's loyal readers, will recall that in last week's Blood, Spit & Logic (Part 1), he offered just the beginning of this wonderfully interesting and entertaining addendum to his now famous Not Strictly Genealogy Methodology. Dealing specifically with

Red Crown

Finding The Kronrots
A Not Strictly Genealogy Methodology
Blood, Spit & Logic

When last we looked

Miriam Bertha

Miriam Kronrot Goldman had shown up. With no place to put her on the Family Tree. Ditto for Bertha Kronrot Kaiman. Thus and so -

Scenes Book of Esther

The city of Shushan was farblonjet.

So, Abq Jew hears you, his loyal readers, ask - exactly where did Bertha Kronrot Kaiman turn up? As it turns out, there is a website called SortedByName.com - which, appropriately, lists a whole bunch (that's a technical term) of Kronrots. Et al.

And Abq Jew recognized the names of almost every Kronrot in the bunch, and successfully placed them in the Kronrot Family Tree.. With just a few exceptions.

Including Bertha Kronrot, who, at some point, married one Abraham Kaiman. In Omaha, Nebraska, of all places. And who, with said Abe, had a daughter (Rosalie) and a son (Kenneth). (It turned out that their son Bernard had already arrived.) In Omaha, Nebraska.

Omaha?

The next problem Abq Jew faced was:

Sara66

Too Many Saras

Well, not exactly. Depending on whose Tree one trusted (and Abq Jew didn't really trust any of them), there was a Sara Kronrot ... and a Sarah Kronrot ... and a Sadaye Kronrot. Or maybe two of them were the same person ... or maybe they were all the same person ....

Larry Darryl Darryl

Abq Jew started with

Sadye

Sadaye Kronrot Lakritz

Sadaye turned out to be easy to trace. She was, just as SortedByName.com proclaimed, the daughter of Julius and Dora Kronrot, born in Poland in 1893.

Thanks to wonderfully knowledgeable help from Sadaye's dear relative-by-marriage S R-Lakritz, Abq Jew learned that Sadaye married Joseph Lakritz in 1914. They had one son, who had two sons ... etc, etc, etc.

OK so far.

So then Abq Jew had to solve the enigma of

Sarah

Sarah Kronrot Richlin

SortedByName.com told Abq Jew that Sarah and her husband Isaac had a son, Milton, born in 1922. In Omaha, Nebraska, of all places.

Didn't Bertha Kronrot marry Abe Kaiman in Omaha? Weren't their kids born in Omaha? And then we've got Abq Jew's Kronrot Family Axiom:

All Kronrots are related.

So Abq Jew searched the records (not the Trees). And discovered, in NYC Deaths 1866-1948:

Sarah Richlin

Sarah Richlin! With her birth and death dates. And her husband Isaac. And - and this is important - the name of her father Jacob Wolf Kronrot, and of her mother Rifka Zelinsky.

"How interesting," said Abq Jew.

Could Jacob Wolf be the mysterious Yankel?

But wait

Remember Miriam Kronrot Goldman (see Blood, Spit & Logic (Part 1)?

Miriam

Miriam Kronrot Goldman

Well, Abq Jew never entirely forgot about Miriam. As Abq Jew was futzing around (that's a technical term) on the Genealogy Internet, he found this record in the 1920 US Federal Census:

Harry Goldman

Miriam Goldman! There she is! In NYC! With her husband Harry, and her children (so far) Milton and Eva. And then - and this is very important - the name of Harry's sister-in-law (and thus, of course, Miriam's sister): Sarah Richlin!

Sarah Miriam

Sarah Kronrot Richlin and
Miriam Kronrot Goldman are sisters!

And Jacob Wolf Kronrot is their father!

But who is Jacob Wolf Kronrot?

Bertha Kronrot Kaiman

And what about Bertha?

See Part 3 ... coming soon!
